At a simultaneous interpreting event, the interpreter has to listen to what is being said and to interpret it as it is spoken so as not to disrupt the flow of a speaker. Simultaneous interpreting is sometimes also known as conference interpreting used for big meetings, conferences and trade shows. When interpreting simultaneously, the interpreter aims at conveying the exact language instead of paraphrasing. Simultaneous interpreters work in pairs, wear headphones and are located in a sound-proof booth. He or she talk via microphones or headsets connected to the headphones of the target language speakers.
